For day 2 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their concert in Tampa, I chose No.2 by RM featuring Park Ji Yoon. This is because RM is the member I drew on my other daily challenge to draw BTS every day until they return from their military service. And in awaiting their concert, I want to revisit those drawings through analyzing a song related to them. This particular drawing was made exactly 2 years ago today.

This song in general is a beautifully made piece. The calming sound of an acoustic guitar blends with the comforting message that the song conveys. When looking at the lyrics of this piece, with the help of Genius English Translations, one can truly notice the comforting aspect of the song. More specifically, this song is one where RM revisits his life journey so far and makes the realization that there is no need for him to keep trying to be the world’s idea of what strength is. Instead, he can be himself and in that choice, he is strong.

Throughout this song, he consistently describes his struggle to break free from the expectations of the world and his own past. While doing so, he also expresses his sentiment to try and be kinder to himself and understand how this is all a part of one’s journey. Frequently, he repeats the lines, “No lookin’ back,” which can serve as his constant reminder to not dwell on his past and instead look forward towards the future. Since the past can’t change, one must strive to become a better person each day one step at a time. And while on that path, they will realize that it is both their strengths and flaws which make them beautiful.

I do hope that this song may be included in their upcoming tour, however I don’t know how possible this particular song is. I feel it would be nice if it appeared in a medley of BTS’ songs with powerful and kind messages as the other members have also written beautiful songs with comforting lyrics as well.
