Today, exactly 2 years ago, I drew Jung Kook of BTS as a part of my challenge of drawing a BTS member every day until they return from the military. Now, as I await their concert in Tampa, I have prepared to analyze a song every day until then. Today’s song is “Begin” by Jung Kook of BTS. The song is a lovely letter to his fellow band members and their brotherhood.

More specifically, in the song, Jung Kook sings about how much his band members, or brothers, mean to him and how they helped him begin his journey towards following a new dream he did not have before. This meaning is shown in the first verse where Jung Kook states that when he was younger, he was not really chasing anything; he was just there (Lines 1-5). However, as the song goes on Jung Kook describes how his brothers were the ones who planted those desires to chasing something and becoming who he is today (Lines 6-9).

With lyrics like this, the listener can truly see into Jung Kook’s heart and understand the love he has for the ones who have always been there for him. He wants to take on their pain as his own, even if its impossible for him (Verse 3). This is all because he cares so much.

I do hope that this song is performed in concert, however I do not know how likely that will be. All in all, this song is a beautiful song and I know will be cherished for years to come. And hopefully, I will be able to hear it live in Tampa.
