Exactly 2 years ago, I drew a photo of Jin of BTS from the MV of his iconic song, “Super Tuna.” Today, as I await BTS’ concert in Tampa, I will continue my challenge of analyzing a BTS song each day by analyzing this one.
This song is such a fun one as it lightheartedly expresses his playful wishes for him to catch a fish with an upbeat, video game inspired, instrumental. Originally being made backstage, after their Permission to Dance Concerts in 2021, Jin released a new extended version more recently after he completed his military service in 2024. Overall though, extended version or not, the song is beautifully straightforward.
Throughout the song, Jin expresses his desire to capture a fish, however the lyrics are a little witty. Instead of just constantly wishing for the fish to come to him, in the lyrics, Jin imagines that near the end of his desperate attempt to catch a fish, the fish is the one who wants to come with him (Pre-Chorus).
There really is not much of a deeper meaning to this song, and because of that I think that is why it can easily brighten people’s day when they listen to it. I do hope this song is performed at the upcoming concert, as it is genuinely such a fun song. With all the sadness and stress in the world right now, a happy song such as “Super Tuna,” is definitely necessary.
