For day 16 of writing a song analysis every day until BTS’ concert in Tampa, I chose “everythingoes (with Nell)” by RM. This song is definitely one of my favorite songs as the message is an incredibly comforting one.
Looking at the song in its entirety, it is about how no matter what, within its own time, everything will go at some point. RM takes comfort in this fact of life and then describes that instead of lofty words, his peace comes from the fact that if he can survive just a little more, it will pass (Verse 2). It is this meaning that many can take comfort in. A lot of people battle with life, and it feels as if one’s pain and struggles will last forever. But soon, that pain will be a memory. And the future that you have longed for, will become the present.
For me, I have been struggling a little with wanting these rough patches to go by faster, but as RM says, “Everything needs to go through pain / Embrace the world and suck in a breath.” (Verse 1). Basically describing the fact that life is painful however, we are not the only ones struggling. And as we struggle, we are still alive. That is the most important thing to remember. Thus, we must be grateful for life, we must cherish it and understand that it is a gift to still be here. Even though we face many different things, since we are still breathing, that too shall pass.
