Trivia : Seesaw by Suga of BTS Mini Analysis

For day 23 of writing a song analysis every day until BTS’ concert in Tampa, I chose to write an analysis on the song “Trivia : Seesaw” by Suga of BTS. In this song, Suga addresses a failing relationship, expressing that it is better for both parties to separate than to continue suffering while in each other’s embrace.

Diving deeper into the lyrics, one can see this sentiment being expressed. In particular, Suga shows this through lines such as, “It was good in the beginning… / Now, I’m so sick of this” (Intro). With this line one can see that both parties did enjoy the company of the other, however as time went on, they realized they were not a good fit. This is a common situation seen in many different relationships, they start of well, however as they progress it gets worse.

Suga’s solution to this issue is for both parties to separate in order to preserve the good memories they had together and maintain their mental health. One can see this solution in the lines, “It’s about time we put an end to it” (Chorus). With these lines, Suga advises that it is best to end their suffering. This is a sentiment I agree with. In regards to relationships, it is easy to hold on to the past and to what was good, even if the other party is hurting you now. However, that is not the best option. Instead, one should leave a situation that is harming them, no matter how hard. It is this solution that Suga alludes to in the song.
