For day 24 of analyzing a song every day until BTS’ concert in Tampa, I am analyzing the song, “I will come to you,” by Jin of BTS. In this song, Jin most likely sings about his military enlistment and how he made a promise to his fans that even though he was leaving for a little while, he would come back.

In Winter of 2022, Jin enlisted into the South Korean Military in order to fulfil South Korea’s mandatory military service requirement of all males over 18. In the song, “I will come to you,” Jin makes a distinct reference to it, without explicitly describing it by singing, “The day white snow fell / The day I left you” (Verse 1). With these lines, one can see that Jin is most likely describing the day he left for the military. Jin then expresses how he felt about the entire ordeal by then singing, “I miss you so much” right after (Pre-Chorus). These three lines set the stage for the song and describe the predicament that Jin and his fans were in at that time; he had to leave his fans and his fans had to wait for him.

Jin then goes on to describe his resolve for meeting his fans once again as the song goes on. This is seen in the chorus where he sings, “When the warm spring breeze blows / I’ll go to you” (Chorus). To comfort his fans, Jin writes these comforting lines that he will return. And then, Jin keeps his promise as he did return in the warm spring of 2024. I think that his promise to return in his song as well as his actual return in real life complement each other beautifully and really add to how beautiful the song is.
