For day 33 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their upcoming concert in Tampa, Florida, I decided to analyze the song, “My Universe” by both Coldplay and BTS. As someone who is a large fan of both BTS and Coldplay, this collaboration is one I enjoy. With a beautiful melody and lovely analogies, the song describes that love is universal and can break all barriers.

Diving deeper, throughout the song, both BTS and Coldplay sing about a relationship that means a lot to them. In regards to the story of the song, the person the two groups are singing about are seen as the one who saved them from the dark (Verse 2). Thus, the protagonist of the song wants to be with that person however they cannot because they, “…come from different sides” (Verse 2). This kind of story is a classic story that many have heard before in regards to relationships whether it is romantic or platonic. However, it is important to not let this kind of barrier stop you. BTS and Coldplay make it clear that they agree with that sentiment as they go on to sing the chorus, continuously declaring their love for that person.

With these lyrics BTS and Coldplay show that love can fight through any barrier. This is an important message as so many issues occur in the world that feel as if they prevent love from prevailing. But we must know and understand that love is stronger than all of those issues. I feel that both BTS and Coldplay reinforce that sentiment within their song.
