For day 36 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their concert in Tampa, I chose “Running Wild” by Jin. In this song, Jin expresses his desire to live freely and enjoy life with someone. Since this song was released after he finished his military service, I feel that in the lyrics, he is releasing something inside himself now that those more serious days are over.

Within the lyrics, you can see this motif of release. For example, Jin sings, “Lets stay out all night / Out all night until we see the sun,” explicitly describing his desire to have fun not only by himself, but with someone else as well (Lines 5 & 6). Sometimes in life, it is important to let go. A lot of times, we are are too serious and too hard on ourselves so it is important to remember to let loose and let go.

This feeling of letting loose is then seen further within the song, at the chorus. With the lyrics referencing the title of the song, “We’ll be running wild,” Jin further establishes the main argument of the song; to have fun in life and let loose (Line 13). No matter how bad life gets, or how serious things are, Jin expresses that it is important to not take life so seriously. I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment as with all the issues going on right now in this world, we all need to take a little time and run wild.

All in all, “Running Wild” by Jin serves as a beautiful anthem to letting loose and not letting what other people think or what your circumstances are dictate how you’ll live your life.
