For day 41 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their upcoming concert in April in Tampa, I chose to analyze the song, “Could You Turn Off Your Cell Phone?” by BTS. This song is about relationships that is put in turmoil due to the constant interruption of cell phones.

In a relationship each party deserves to have the undivided attention of the other. However, in modern times, the interruption of cellphones has become even more frequent, impeding conversations. BTS addresses this issue in the chorus when writing, “Could you turn off your cell phone? / Look at my face and give me a mention.” In this line, BTS is making a comparison to how on social media, you can mention someone and instead of focusing on their cell phone, the person should remember that there is someone right in front of them that they should converse with.

A lot of the most important moments in life are sometimes missed when someone becomes too absorbed in something. Cell Phones are great and can help connect people incredibly well. But when they are used too often and during the time when someone is physically right in front of you, expecting a conversation, relationships can be heavily impacted. This is why balance is important in life.
