For day 43 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their concert in Tampa, I chose to analyze the song, “Tomorrow,” by BTS. This song serves as one of BTS’ numerous songs about chasing one’s dreams no matter what life throws at them.
Diving deeper, this message can be seen in the beginning of the song when Suga, RM, and V rap and sing about the struggles of life. More specifically, the describe how as one grows older and chases after their dreams, the spark can be lost due to the repetitiveness of tasks that are needed to complete in order to pursue that dream (Verse 1). I can wholeheartedly understand their pain as a college student who is also chasing a dream. Sometimes it feels as if the constant work I do every day does not necessarily lead me anywhere and my dreams fade further and further into the background.
However, BTS does not want us to wallow in that feeling of hopelessness. Instead, they show that there is hope when one continues to push forward, even when it seems as if there’s nothing left. This is seen in the pre-chorus when Jung Kook sings, “Follow your dream like breaker / Even if it breaks down, oh, better.” With these lyrics, BTS is encouraging their listener on their own journey to keep going. They also are encouraging themselves as well; comforting and reminding themselves to remember that even when they fall and fail, there is still hope that they can reach their dreams.
