My Time by Jung kook of BTS Mini Analysis Through My Own Story

When I first heard the song, “My Time” by Jung Kook of BTS, I felt comforted. As someone who has experienced many great opportunities throughout my life, bringing me onto a national stage at a young age, I felt like someone understood what I went through, even though my experience was definitely not to the same level.

Jungkook’s lyrics describing the pressure he felt of having incredible experiences at a young age that no one else could really relate to spoke to me (Verse 1). What I experienced was nowhere near as intense as what he did but I saw a small part of myself in him. This is because after I experienced many great opportunities, such as photographing the President of the United States at 9-years-old, going to red carpet events, etc, they left me feeling a little out of place when I went back to school.

In regards to Jung Kook’s song, he expresses a similar feeling. He can’t hang out with his friends because he’s being blessed with incredible opportunities from being famous such as flying in airplanes all the time (Chorus). And then, it’s also hard for him because he feels as if he grew up too fast; missing the mundane experiences of growing up (Verse 2). Although my experience is nowhere near Jung Kook’s level, I can still slightly understand what he went through.

There are some things I missed out on while growing up in a faced paced environment where I experienced red carpets and tv interviews pretty often. However, like Jung Kook, I never let that stop me. Instead, we both continue on our paths, figuring things out, and working hard to continuously nurture our relationships and friendships no matter what.
