For day 60 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their concert in April, I decided to analyze the song, “Make it Right” by BTS. This song is about someone who wants to repay the kindness that was given to them by any means necessary; a feeling that many have for the people they love.
This narrative is seen throughout the song as BTS continuously describes someone who has helped them in the past and saved them when they felt like all is lost. More specifically, this is referenced in the Pre-Chorus where it is stated:
“This eternal night with no end in sight
It’s you who gifted me the morning
Now, may I hold your hand?
Oh-ooh, I can make it right” (Pre-Chorus).
With these lyrics, BTS describes the weight that one feels when they are saved by someone. It sometimes feels as if you have to pay them back somehow, make everything better for them by any means necessary. This feeling can thus lead to fear of loosing someone if you can’t provide what they want as well. I feel that although this song is a sweet song about wanting to help someone since they helped you, I also feel that it has a slightly sad undertone. A feeling of fear that if they don’t repay them, they might loose them.
