For day 70 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their concert in April, I decided to analyze the song, “Ma City.” This song is a beautifully prideful song about BTS’ home towns and where they grew up, giving a small taste into the world they knew for so long.

Many people feel many different things towards the place where they grew up and for some people, it has shaped a lot of their identity. For BTS, their hometown is something like that, it has defined them as well as become a safe space for them when they feel lost (Verse 1). Reminiscing on their hometown also serves a very important purpose; they are expressing that they have not forgotten where they came from even though they have grown and prospered so much (Verse 2). I think it is very important for BTS to express this kind of message in their lyrics; a message to always remember where you came from as that is what shaped you. Of course, some places where people grew up were not the best however those experiences still had an impact on the person they are today.
