For day 73 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their concert in April, I decided to analyze the song, “Jamais Vu” by BTS. Found on their Map of the Soul: Persona album, this song uses countless video game metaphors to describe one’s request for someone or something to help them in their darkest moment.

Throughout the song, BTS takes the listener on a journey of pain and healing through video games, expressing how in real life one experiences those things as well. For example, one of the lyrics describes that life’s issues could be better managed if it was a game as you’d be able to heal like a medic heals you in game (Verse 3). As someone who likes video games, I can understand this a lot. It would definitely be nice if someone could follow you around and heal you when your morale and health gets low. However, life is just not like that. We have to move on and learn to reach out to others when we need help. It is scary and hard to ask someone for help however, asking for help is the first step into getting help.
