For day 48 of analyzing a BTS song every day until their upcoming concert in Tampa, I decided to analyze the song, “Butterfly (Prologue Mix)” by BTS. This song describes one’s fear for loving someone as they feel as if that love is so beautiful but then also likely to disappear like a butterfly flies off in the wind.

Diving deeper, BTS establishes this narrative through their lyrics by expressing their fear. This is seen in lines, “Feels like it’s all a dream / Don’t try to disappear, yeah,” which describes that common fear of loosing one’s love. Sometimes, when something is so good and beautiful, it is easy to become fearful that it will go away. This is the message that BTS describes, comforting anyone who is at that stage of their life as well.

All in all, the song “Butterfly (Prologue Mix)” is a beautifully sad song addressing the fear of dealing with love; the fear that one day it might not be there anymore similar to the fleeting sight of a butterfly.
